Open letter from the EMS Chiefs:

We would like to welcome you the official site of the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company Inc, Emergency Medical Services. Brookfield EMS is a combination of both Volunteer and Paid staff who provide 24-hour coverage of the Ambulances.  Over the past few years, we have modified and grown our service to maintain adequate coverage to the residents and visitors of our community.

Since 1957, the BVFC has provided Emergency Medical Services to the Town of Brookfield. In 1957 we had 38 calls for service, today we have approximately 1,600 calls annually.  Our population has grown by over 6.5% people since 2010, and even more since 2020 and the Covid pandemic. Established in 1788, Brookfield covers 19.8 square miles and has approximately 17,600 residents.  Daily populations increase in the summer and during holidays due to our booming commercial businesses and the lake.

Brookfield EMS has 3 Paramedic level ambulances and 2 Paramedic Fly cars.  Daily we staff one ALS Ambulance 24 hours, a second ALS Ambulance 12 hours during the day and one additional on-call Paramedic on the overnight and during the day.  Our paid staff covers all Paramedic shifts and our daytime BLS shifts, while our volunteer staff covers night shifts on the secondary ambulance 7:00pm to 7:00am and the additional ambulances as needed.  We operate with approximately 25 staff members and 15 volunteers. In 2020, the BVFC streamlined its EMS operations by adding Wayne Woodtke as the Deputy Chief of Emergency Medical Services.  Wayne brings an in-depth knowledge of EMS management and real-world experience that helps us run the operations smoothly.  The volunteer and paid staff work seamlessly side by side running day to day operations and looking at future growth of the town.

If you are interested in volunteering with our service, please check out the “Join Us” link. Brookfield EMS has opportunities for in and out of town volunteer membership!
