When Firefighters get an emergency call, they rush to the scene. What many people don’t know is some Fire Companies get a helping hand from a group of women known as…”The Ladies Auxiliary”. Our Ladies Auxiliary was formed in 1953 with 29 charter members to help raise money and support the volunteer firefighters. The Ladies Auxiliary celebrates its 61st anniversary in 2014 and honors its charter members for their contribution.
Today, the organization supports the Fire Company by helping with various fund drives and other Firehouse events. Even more important is the special care they give our Firefighters when “on-the-scene” at a fire call or community emergency–serving them food, beverage and other provisions. The Ladies Auxiliary is always available to assist during structure fires and accidents when called upon by the Fire Chief or an Officer of the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company.
The Ladies Auxiliary is a volunteer organization made up of women who meet these requirements:
- Members must be 16 years or older and either be a member of the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company–or have a relative who is a member of the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company
The Ladies Auxiliary always welcomes new members and invites those interested in joining to come to their monthly meeting. For more membership information, call us at the Firehouse main number… 203-775-1882 and ask to speak to a Ladies Auxiliary Officer. Or you can use our contact form to send us an email.
