Firefighter & EMT Responsibilities…

We are always looking for new members to join our Firefighter and Emergency Medical Services Organization either as Certified Firefighters or Emergency Medical Technicians.  However, potential members must realize that membership requires an enormous time commitment.  There are state and federal requirements that govern exactly how much and what type of training we must receive to provide a standard of service that the public expects.  There is also continuing training that is required to ensure the safety of all Company members at emergency scenes.

Meetings to conduct the business of the Company are held on the first Monday of every month… unless that Monday is a holiday.  Training drills are held on the other three (3) Monday nights for both Firefighters and Emergency Medical Service members.  These drills range from testing and repair of all equipment and apparatus, state mandatory hose testing, vehicle extrication, CPR re-certification and even putting out live fires in our back yard!  It is hard work and time consuming… but membership is immensely rewarding.

Firefighter Drills Includes

  • Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) familiarization
  • Evolution through the smoke house (Interior Firefighters)
  • Search and rescue
  • Ropes and ladders
  • Water supply
  • Ice rescue evolution
  • Mass Casualty Incident (MCI)
  • Blood borne and Haz-Mat awareness
  • Vehicle extrication
  • Car fires
  • State mandatory hose testing

Emergency Medical Services Drills Includes

  • Blood borne and Haz-Mat Awareness
  • Ice rescue evolution
  • Mass Casualty Incident (MCI)
  • CPR re-certification
  • EMT or MRT state certification

If you are thinking that this sounds like something you would like to do but you don’t have the training… or you are just unsure how to get involved… please call us to setup an appointment.  And don’t worry… we can offer you the right training that you will need.  Remember, the most important part is to get involved.
